3 Best TVs for a Garage or Home Gym or Workout Room

So you’ve just put hours and hours of energy into picking out the best equipment for your home gym.

Maybe you’ve researched the best weights, the best treadmill, or perhaps even the best complete home fitness center.

But now that you’ve got the best equipment, you’re definitely going to want to take your fitness center to the next level with the best TV for home gyms.

Just think about how quick and easy your workout will seem with a funny episode of Family Guy playing in the background. Or the latest drama-filled episode of Days of Our Lives. (I mean, to each their own.)

Now, I know what you might be thinking.

Aren’t all TV’s just TV’s? Don’t they all do the same thing?

And the answer to that is… not really. Not all TV’s are created equal. And not all TV’s are the best option for your home gym, workout room, or garage gym.

Without any further ado, here are 3 of the best TVs for your home gym:

Now let’s take a look at how you should be shopping for a TV for your workout room, what to look for, and why these are the best picks.

What to look for in a TV for your home gym:

So, before you purchase just any old TV for your home gym, there are some deciding factors you might want to consider.

Here are some potential questions you should ask yourself before buying the best TV for your home gym:

  • What resolution quality are you looking for?
  • What about sound quality?
  • Do you want access to the Internet and to streaming services? (In other words, do you want or need a Smart TV for your home gym?)
  • What about an easy-to-use remote control?
  • What size screen are you looking for?
  • Do you want your TV to be easily adjustable for your home gym?
  • What is your budget?

These are important features to consider.

You don’t want to spend a ton of money and time setting up a TV that’s hard to adjust, just to have to twist and crane your neck from your spot on the yoga mat to catch what’s happening on your morning talk show.

In fact, in an interview with the Seattle Times, Home Gym Design’s Ruth Tara was quoted saying:

“The biggest problem I find is that people are tilting their heads right or left to look at the TV… You multiply that by a half-hour, three or four times a week, and you’ll get a big neck ache.”

What’s more, these days with so much content being offered via streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, it might be worth spending a little more for a Smart TV that gives you all these options for entertainment.

With these factors in mind, we took to Amazon to find you 3 of the best TV options for your home gym.

Check them out below:

Best budget TV for home gyms: TCL 32-inch 720p Roku Smart LED TV

UPDATE: Added newest model year version of the TCL TV.

Overview: To start off with a lower budget but quality option, we looked into this TCL Roku Smart LED TV. The screen size ranges from a 28-inch option to a 49-inch option and the resolution ranges from 720p to 1080p depending on screen size. The product is available with Prime shipping and it has thousands of enthusiastic reviews.

Screen Size: 28-49 inches

Resolution: 720-1080p

Smart TV: Yes

Why I like it: It’s a great option with a lot of the features you might be looking for at a price you really can’t beat. The 28-inch screen size option is extremely affordable – so even with settling for perhaps a slightly smaller than ideal TV screen, you still get tons of great features at a quality price.

Not to mention it’s a Smart TV – this means you can connect to Wi-Fi and you can access over 4,000 streaming channels featuring more 450,000 movies and TV shows. What’s more, many of the reviews mention how light the TV is, which means it would be a great option for mounting it on the wall in your home gym and for easily adjusting it whenever you need to!

Potential drawbacks: While the price is nice, the resolution isn’t quite up to 2018 Ultra-HD standards. This doesn’t mean you’re going to get a fuzzy pixelated 1960s image, but it’s definitely not as crisp as more expensive options might be. Moreover, quite a few of the reviews mention slight problems with the audio levels.

The audio can be improved with converters, but this would need to be an additional purchase from Amazon. So you might find that the noises of your home gym drown out the audio of your TV a bit. Also, a few reviews mention that the TV has no external on/off/menu buttons, so if you lose the remote control you might be in trouble.

Best mid-range TV for home gyms: TCL 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV

UPDATE: Added new model year.

Overview: If you’re looking for more of a mid-range option for your home gym TV, the TCL 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV is a great contender. The TV ranges in screen size from 43-inches to 65-inches, with the 43-inch option still coming in with a pretty reasonable price tag.

Screen Size: 43-65 inches

Resolution: 4K

Smart TV: Yes

Why I like it: For a slightly higher price than the first product we recommended, you get larger screen size options and much crisper visuals. In the description of the TV it claims the product pairs “4k Ultra HD picture clarity with the contrast, color, and detail of High Dynamic Range for the most lifelike picture.”

Sounds pretty great, right? Also, just like the first option, this TV has built-in Wi-Fi and can access over 4,000 streaming channels with over 450,000 movies and TV shows available. You’ll never run out of things to watch while you’re hitting the treadmill! And the lightweight product options will allow you to easily adjust the TV while you move throughout your home gym.

Potential drawbacks: A few of the reviews mention less than movie-theater level sound quality. So if you’re working out with a noisy elliptical or banging some weights around, you might need to purchase an extra sound bar for your home gym.

Moreover quite a few reviews mention complications with the TV remote. So if you’re deep into your workout routine, having to pause and figure out how to change the channel or volume might be a pretty big drawback.

Best high-end TV for home gyms: LG 65-inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV

UPDATE: Added new model year.

Overview: Now, for my higher-end product recommendation for your home gym TV, I’ve chosen the LG Electronics 4k Ultra HD Smart LED TV.

This 75 inch behemoth gives you a massive amount of screen space, so you’ll never have to crane your neck to see!

The picture quality is absurdly high, and the TV is integrated with Alexa for streaming all of your favorite content on-demand.

Screen Size: 75 inches

Resolution: 4K Ultra-HD

Smart TV: Yes

Why I like it: If you’re looking for the best TV for home gyms, this one hits pretty close to home. Although the price point is a little higher than our other 2 options, this one makes up for it in quality. With 4K Ultra HD, this TV provides top-notch quality visuals. Also, product reviews on Amazon mention that the TV has great sound quality without having to purchase an extra converter or sound bar from Amazon.

Great sound quality is a must for a potentially noisy gym! Moreover, with this TV you are also able to control the TV by phone – this should make changing the channel or finding a movie to stream easier while you’re working out. And of course, you can search for movies to stream because the TV has built in Wi-Fi and access to streaming services.

Potential Drawbacks: This one is pretty big, so it could be a bit tricky to mount. For an extra fee, you can tack on professional wall-mounted installation when you buy, which is a nice feature.

Plus, some of the reviews mention that the settings of the TV need to be messed with a bit to get the great quality the product is capable of. However, neither of these things should be cause for too much worry!

Mounting a TV in your garage or workout room

It almost goes without saying that you’ll need to properly mount whatever TV you choose on the wall of your home gym.

If you’ve never mounted a TV before, it might seem like a big task — but there’s not actually that much to it!

I’ve mounted two TVs in my house with this excellent Mounting Dream mount on Amazon. It’s extremely affordable, has great instructions, and allows you to tilt, swivel, and pull the TV in or out at almost any angle.

Perfect for avoiding those neck aches from craning to see and fits almost any TV!

If you’re a stickler about aesthetics and want to avoid visible TV cords in your home or garage gym, you can get a really nifty kit that hides the cables behind the wall.
